A woman’s life changes the moment she finds out she is going to be a mother, and from that moment she has to take special care about her health and the health of her child. Even after pregnancy, she has to be strong enough to take care about her family, deal with house chores, make progress in her career, and be a supermom like all moms are. Here are some tips that will help you live a healthy life in every way possible.

Shop Organic
First part of healthy life is to get enough supplies of healthy food. Organic food is known to contain more nutrients than conventionally grown food, without containing toxic residues of pesticides. And since you are improving your shopping habits, you can minimize the negative impact on the environment and buy products in recyclable containers and use eco-friendly shopping bags.

Eat and Cook Healthy
A balanced diet is the foundation of a healthy life. “Eat your vegetables” shouldn’t be only a piece of advice you are giving to your kids, but something to live by. Of course, don’t forget to include other nutritious foods, such as fruit, legumes, probiotics, lean meat, and nuts. Remember, it’s not just about what you cook, but how you cook it as well. Avoid using Teflon pans and cookery since they can release toxins when preheated. Avoid frying, and stick to roasting, or even better steam cooking.

Clean the House in a Natural Way
Many of the house-cleaning products we normally use are packed with toxic chemicals that we are inhaling. Although there is no instant reaction, the toxins are piling up in our organism, which can lead to serious health issues. It would be best to get rid of them, and start using natural home products. You can even make your own using the simplest ingredients, like baking soda and vinegar.

Get Moving
Regular exercise can boost your energy levels and keep you fresh and alert throughout the day. Still, squeezing in an hour of exercising seems impossible with all the to-dos waiting. Maybe you don’t have time for an hour long gym session, but there are so many mommy-friendly alternatives such as Pilates for pregnant women, mom and baby fitness, and baby stroller workouts.

Take Care of Your Dental Health
With all the responsibilities of being a mother, oral health is often reduced only to the matter of hygiene. However, regular dentist visits should be considered just as important as your doctor’s appointments, especially during pregnancy when hormonal changes might cause problems with gums. Symptoms like tenderness, swelling or bleeding in the gums should alert you that you must undergo gingivitis treatment and thus protect both you and your baby.

Don’t Stress Out
Being a mother is the most beautiful and the most stressful work there is. And sometimes the stress of being constantly worried or seeing a Stickman drawn on the wall of your living room can get the better of you. Try to remain calm. Find something that soothes you. That can be deep breathing, meditation, yoga, music, a good book, etc. Try to get some me-time to recharge your batteries whenever you can.

Sleep Well
Sleep deprivation makes you unfocused, weak, anxious, uncoordinated and fatigued – all of these being the last thing a mother needs. Sleeping 7 to 8 hours might sound unrealistic for a mother of young kids, but it is what you need in order to remain sane. Avoid drinking too much caffeine and don’t veg out in front of the TV before bed. Instead, read a couple pages of a book or listen to relaxing music. Try to have a consistent bedtime.

All of these tips might sound as a luxury when you already have a thousand things to do, but if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of your children.
